Overview

This was my 3rd trip to Hawaii. 2 weeks from Jan 23 to Feb 5. Truly a vacation. When I go to the the Big Island of Hawai'i, it gives me a chance to "purge" my brain of everything. Pure holiday time.

Highlights of this trip:

• the Volcano, where I stood 2 feet from red-hot-flowing lava!
• the Cherry Blossom Festival in Waimea.
• visiting the navigational heiau (stone platform) at Mahukona - I call it "Hawai'ian Stonehenge".
• pickin' puka shells at the beach (got enough this trip for 4 necklaces!)
• keiki hula show at the King's shoppes at the Waikoloa resort.
• just hangin' out with my folks and exploring the island with them.

This photo/video-graphic journal of my trip is divided up day-by-day. I keep a journal when I go on my big trips like this, so I'll add in additional notes from that where applicable. I don't have photos from every day of my trip, because some days we just went back to the same beach to relax. For example, I spent at least 4 full half-days at my "puka-pickin'" beach lookin' for puka shells.

Night 1 / Day 1 - January 22rd / 23rd- Kona Tiki Hotel in Kona

Day 2 - January 24th - Downtown Kona

Day 3 - January 25th - First Sunset & Video of "Puka Shell Beach"

Day 4 - January 26th - Roadtrip #1 - Waipio Valley Lookout, Laupaho'eho'e, Hakalau, Akiko's Buddhist B&B, Saddle Road return trip

Day 5 - January 27th - Waikoloa Hilton, Bay 69, Keiki Hula at the King's Shoppes

Day 6 - January 28th - Roadtrip # 2 to Volcano - LAVA!!

Day 9- January 31st - Mauna Lani Fish ponds, Puako "pewls"

Day 10 - February 1st - Took the high road to Kona

Day 11 - February 2nd - Trek into Kiholo Bay

Day 12 - February 3rd - Ocean fishing with Max, Darryl, and Dad

Day 13 - February 4th - Waimea, Vicki, Michael's new house

Day 14 - February 5th - Last day - Cherry Blossom Festival in Waimea, Mahukona Navigational Hieau, Final Sunset
